Kickboxing gloves
Kickboxing without gloves is obviously not going to work! When you are looking for a good pair of gloves that will match your training goals and budget, you need to pay attention to a few different things. Most important is size and material.
Hand wraps
Hand wraps are a must-have in kickboxing. They project your knuckles and wrist from injuries and make you able to punch harder, making your training more intense. Hand wraps also protect your kickboxing gloves from absorbing sweat and bacterial build up.
Shin guards
Shin guards or shin pads are very important in kickboxing. They protect you and your partner when doing drills and sparring, when wearing the highly protective shin guards you can train without worrying about getting injuries. They protect the soft tissues and bones in the shins and help to absorb the shock of impact, which helps to reduce the risk of serious injuries.
Head guard

Kickboxing shorts
Kickboxing shorts are essential for your training and a must in competitions, kickboxing shorts are shorter in length, so they don’t restrict the extension of kicks. They are worn a bit higher on the waistline and (most) kickboxing shorts have special technical constructions so that it does not fall off during intensive training sessions, such as a wide elastic waistband and a drawstring to tie your pants securely.
Mouth guard
Using a mouth guard while training will prevent most serious injuries from happening to your mouth. You might think mouthpieces only protect your teeth, but they also protect your lips, tongue, face, and jaw.
Groin or chest guard
For all the men reading this post, you can imagine why it would be smart to wear groin guards. They will protect you against either accidental or illegal intentional hits below the belt. Cup protection reduces the impact of a blow to prevent damage to the groin area. However, a cup does not keep a fighter from feeling the pain of a direct hit.
Having sensitive or larger breast can really hold you back in your training. Constantly moving and the fear of being hit on your breasts can really get in the way of the training. A chest protection top can take you just a little further than a sturdy sports bra.
Heavy bag
Hand wraps are a must-have in kickboxing. They project your knuckles and wrist from injuries and make you able to punch harder, making your training more intense. Hand wraps also protect your kickboxing gloves from absorbing sweat and bacterial build up.
Mitts
When you train with a partner, it is best to use pads. These are the best at absorbing your punches and kicks. Your partner's wrists are also best protected against overload during an intensive workout.
Head guard
Head guards project you from concussions and injuries. Recent studies have shown that even minor blows to the head at a young age can damage the brain. In our YESFIT gym, we only allow punches to the body in our youth classes. If this is not the case in your gym, we strongly advise purchasing head protection if this is not provided by your gym.
